GOOD NEWS PEOPLE!!

  • Jul. 30th, 2010 at 11:07 PM

From Healthcare.gov. A website to explain the new healthcare changes to the public!

The rebate program will begin January 1, 2011
To ensure premium dollars are spent primarily on health care, the new law requires that at least

85% of all premium dollars collected by insurance companies for large employer plans are spent on health care services and health care quality improvement.

For plans sold to individuals and small employers, at least

80% of the premium must be spent on benefits and quality improvement.

If insurance companies do not meet these goals because their administrative costs or profits are too high, they must provide rebates to consumers.

And to think I have heard so much whining about how awful that plan is...I think Obama freakin rocks for this!!

  • Jun. 8th, 2010 at 9:25 PM

*grins*

I just tested my hearing and I can hear about eight years younger than I should! whoot!

You are about 20 years old
The teen repellent will no longer foil you, but you can still hear some pretty high tones.

The highest pitched ultrasonic mosquito ringtone that I can hear is 16.7kHz
Find out which ultrasonic ringtones you can hear!

ok so I am 28 now

  • Oct. 27th, 2009 at 11:57 AM

And I have managed to get a killer set of kidney stones just two days after my Birthday. I just about died. The infection was so bad it had gone septic and my blood was poisoned.

I am one of those people who get sick...but have to get REALLY sick. As in, hours left to live sick. As in three days in ICU sick.

I was released home to finish recovery before having surgery to remove these stones - yup you heard right...they are STILL in there. Four of them, just nesting inside my kidney and waiting to cause me mountains of agony.

Which is why I have found time to blog after all. Right now I am sitting on the couch at my mothers house (which is a whole other amusing story) and I am taking pain killers and blogging.

I just had gotten a new job too. I was one week into working there. One week. And in the middle of a phone call, my kidney spasmed and it felt like somebody had stabbed me in the back. I had to rush to the emergency room. ONE WEEK at work.

I did have other plans.

For one, I am trying to get on my feet and not be living with other people.

Namely, my Aunt. She was kind enough to offer a blow up mattress in her spare bedroom while I got on my feet with that new job. AND she let my boyfriend come with. SOOOO me and the boyfriend were at this new job...(both of us got the same job at the same place at the same time - talk about awesome timing!). And so I wanted to get about two or three paychecks into my belt so that I could move into a little apartment near work.

THEN kidney stones struck.

So much for plans.

My insurance with the new job doesn't start until six months in.

There I am in the hospital - uninsured.

My boyfriend is still living at my Aunts house (talk about awkward)

And I am back at my moms (after all - blowup mattresses really aren't conducive to a good healing) recovering - hoping and praying that I will have my job back when I get back. *sighs*

SO I am 28.

So much for plans.

Rock Band

  • Jun. 2nd, 2009 at 10:37 AM

Ok finally gave into popular culture and played Rock Band ...for three or four hours last night. *grins* Our band is called Pink Highlights (due to my pink streak in my hair of course). Jerrod is the drummer..and his brother is the lead guitarist. We had so much fun! We even got tons of fans and a new van last night. *laughs*

What fun!

Lake!!

  • Jun. 1st, 2009 at 3:11 PM

Went to the lake yesterday.

It was so funny how girlie I am sometimes. For one...caddo lake smells funny to me. Wierdly icky and fishy. So, here we are...at the lake with about half of the population of the surrounding cities and I am the only one going...ewww!! Everyone else just waded in..with the weeds wrapping around thier toes and slimy green mud making me sorta feel sick at my stomach. There is something wrong when you go to a lake...and come out of it..with your clothes stained a funny green brown color. *shudders* I wore shoes into the water...no way in heck am I going to slice my foot on some beer bottle and get some scary disease from the cesspit calling itself a lake. I also just got my navel repierced. (I shall blog more about the horrors of nickel allergies) . So I didn't want to submerse my newly pierced tummy into the murk and get an infection (any worse than I already got from the stupid nickel allergy).

So I was pretty much just stuck sitting on a picnic table and trying not to breathe too deep of the smell coming off the water.

We (as in Jerrod and I) went to hang out with some friends of his..and his brother. His brother seems like a nice guy. It was a day of laying in the sunshine and feeling exhausted. Dunno why the heat does that. *shrugs*

I was strangely content there though. Chatting with his friends when they did swim back to the picnic table. (yes, it was submerged into the water - it has rained sooo much).

All in all...the only thing I regret..is that I put on the sunscreen so early. It was SPF - 50...so I didn't get ANY tan at all *pouts*

ok so...

  • Apr. 30th, 2009 at 10:24 AM

I am in a new relationship. Oh goodie...warm fuzzies and shivers abound. Honestly though, I am finally tired of the dating game. I wouldn't mind settling in with this one.
Maybe
Probably

Right now there are promises of skinny dipping on East Texas warm nights. And promises of lazy sundays lying in the sun at the lake. And having somebody to call when I am bored or lonely or excited about something. It is an enticing time. A bonus is that he wants to live in a bigger city too. Always a plus!

Forgive me for not waxing poetic...maybe I am becoming a cynic.

is it just me?

  • Apr. 11th, 2009 at 9:58 PM

Or is it human nature to constantly be waiting for tomorrow to get here. I mean. Today at work..I couldn't wait for work to be over...so that I could go home. Now I am home...and I can't wait for the phone call I am expecting. And I can't wait for next friday to come when I will hear news. And I can't wait for the summer to come so that I can go to the lake. And I can't wait for me to save up enough money to get a new car. And hell..all this waiting for something good to come along.

Geez. I need to start enjoying. I am freaking 27 after all. *chuckles*

"I should write...

  • Apr. 2nd, 2009 at 8:02 PM

...a bestselling novel", I told my Mom.

"No I should write a book", she replied. "No, I couldn't write a book. You are right, you should write it."

Tipping her diet soda enough to draw from the straw, she mumbled around it. "I couldn't write as well as you could. I am a Jack of all trades, master of none."

"That is what I should call it! I am Jack. That is a great title Mom."

Shifting in my chair I watched my Dad pop coconut shrimp into his mouth. He  twisted the tail with that funny hand that looks like he is arching his pinkie with distain. He sliced the tendon in his pinkie with his strap knife one day when he popped it open. Watching him open it, it is a wonder he doesn't slice his hands more often. He has a loop of nylon rope wound through the hole at the joint of the knife where the blade pops open. With one smooth motion that is very much like a magician pulling handkerchiefs from his back pocket....he flourishes his palm...Voila! Only instead of silk, stainless steel is glittering in his palm, blade out. Like so much about my Dad, it is graceful and flamboyant and unabashedly manly. Just the most economical of movements, a half second tops. And Ladies and Gentleman, as you can see, there is nothing up my sleeves. Will the lady on the front row please step forward and confirm? Ah no, no trick of any kind. Right before your very eyes, see the act for yourself! Just a deadly little snick of the blade fully extending as the centrifugal  force whirls the blade snug into his waiting palm. Only of course that one time out of a thousand when the blade doesn't open all the way and his closing hand finds a razor sharp blade instead. So now, he looks as if he is hooking his pinkie to drink a cup of tea like we did at our tea parties when I was a little girl. Such a funny little quirk on such a manly guy.

To be continued...
